My time on the USS Holland revolved around the outside machine shop. I repaired pneumatic, hydraulic and oxygen systems on-board Polaris Class submarines and the occasional Los Angeles Class submarine.
I worked with some tremendously talented mechanics here. I learned how to locate and read prints. I dove very deep into immensely complex SubSafe repair projects that required intricate approval steps along the entire course of the job. I became a mechanic's mechanic here. I could troubleshoot and repair anything to specifications that I had never before seen.
It is here that I decided I wanted to apply my diagnostic and repair skills to people and charted my course to go into Medicine via Engineering. I formed more lifelong relationships here and am very proud of the skills I developed.
